Willie Gary Law Firm and Gertrude Walden Child Care Center Provide and Serve Holiday Meals to Over 1100 Needy Families Gertrude Walden Child Care Center Calls on Gary Law Firm STUART, FL – Employees of the Law Offices of Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson and Sperando, P.L. recently partnered with Gertrude Walden Child Care Center in Stuart, Florida to provide holiday meals to disadvantaged families from the community. The Gary Law Firm sponsored the cost of the meal as well as assisted the employees from the Gertrude Walden Child Care Center in preparing the delicious down-home holiday meal complete with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, carrots, dressing, dinner rolls and cake! Together, employee volunteers from the law firm and the child care center served the meals in celebration of the holiday season to families from the surrounding community. Over 25 employees of the Gary Law Office donated their time for this worthwhile endeavor. Volunteers spent the afternoon cooking the food, packaging meals for take-out, replenishing food items, cleaning tables and serving those families who chose to dine-in. Families began to converge at the child care center early that afternoon in anticipation of the holiday feast. A line of people extended beyond the front door of the child care center into the adjacent parking lot. Over 1100 meals were served throughout the course of the afternoon. Nearly half of the 1100 meals were distributed during the first 90 minutes. “My heart is always with the least of these,” commented Willie Gary. “I commend Gertrude Walden Child Care Center for their commitment to helping those who are less fortunate. Each week Gertrude Walden works tirelessly to feed families in our community and I am just honored that we were able to help them achieve this goal for the holiday feast. Through this effort, we were able to provide dinners to families who, in many cases, might not have anything to eat on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. With today’s needs so prevalent and so pronounced, I’m glad we were able to contribute,” continued Gary. Known for his philanthropic endeavors, Willie Gary and his wife, Gloria Gary, founded The Gary Foundation, which provides college scholarships to at-risk students who wish to attend college. The Gary’s have donated millions of dollars to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities – including $10 million to their alma mater Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
