Attorney Willie Gary, Chairman of the Shaw University Board of Trustees, recently announced Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy as Shaw University’s Interim President. Dr. Yancy becomes the first female president in the University’s 144-year history. Before joining the Shaw University family, Dr. Yancy served 14 years as the president of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina where she ran two successful capital campaigns, raising over $145 million for the University. “Dr. Yancy’s qualifications and expertise are second to none” commented Gary. “We are excited about her visionary leadership and are looking forward to her spearheading Shaw University to higher heights. It is with open arms that we welcome Dr. Yancy,” continued Gary.
