Law Partners Willie Gary and Lorenzo Williams Honored by the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association as Two of “Florida’s First Black Lawyers”

Gary and Williams Recognized at Legacy Gala

Law partners Willie E. Gary and Lorenzo Williams were recently recognized as two of “Florida’s First Black Lawyers.”

The history project, which was spearheaded by the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association, recognized the accomplishments and contributions of those admitted to practice in Florida between 1869 and 1979.

The African American legal pioneers were honored during a Legacy Gala in Orlando, Florida. In addition, each lawyer is included in the Florida’s First book, where their contributions to society and the legal profession are highlighted.
