Trial Attorney Willie Gary and Team Filed Suit Against Skytel Communications, Inc. for $100 Million

Skytel Communications Comes Under Fire after Unlawfully Releasing Text Messages of Former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
Stuart, Florida – Trial attorneys, Willie E. Gary, Jackson, Mississippi-based Hal Dockins, Detroit-based James Thomas and their law firms filed a $100 million lawsuit (case # 252 –CI-2009-13) against Skytel Communications, Inc. for violating former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s privacy and constitutional rights.
Gary and team cite that Skytel violated various state and federal statutes including the Stored Communications Act by unlawfully releasing the text messages in connection with litigation from the 2003 time period.
“Everyone is entitled to privacy as given to us by the U.S. Constitution and other laws that govern this great nation,” said Gary. “My client’s constitutional rights have been violated in the worst of ways, and we are merely seeking justice. We aren’t asking for any favoritism, we just want justice,” Gary continued.
Gary is no stranger to seeking justice. He is noted for winning a $240 million jury verdict in Orange County against the Walt Disney Corporation for his clients who alleged Disney stole their idea for a sports theme park. In 2001, a jury awarded Gary a $139.6 million verdict for the Maris Distributing Company against Anheuser Busch. In addition, Gary and Dockins won a record-breaking half-billion dollar verdict in Jackson, Mississippi against the Loewen Group, a large Canadian funeral home chain.
