Settlement in Multi-Million Dollar Construction Claim for Worker Crushed by Six Tons of Steel
Willie Gary, along with associate attorney Paul D. Mark Lucas, recently reached a confidential settlement in a personal injury case against a construction company on behalf of one of two men who was crushed by over six tons of steel.
The accident occurred when the two men were working on the construction site of a bridge in a small southern town. At the time of the accident, they were placing steel rods that would eventually be bound together and used to support the bridge. Upon completion of the project, the weight of these caged bars was in excess of six tons.
The stands that contained the steel rods collapsed and caused the cages with the metal rods to fall on the plaintiffs. Both men were crushed and have been permanently and totally disabled. Neither can function for any of the occupations or jobs they previously pursued and have sustained physical, mental and psychological damage as a result of the accident. It has been said that these men were “lucky” to have survived.
The case on behalf of the second injured man is still pending.
