Trial Attorney Willie Gary Expects Total Damages to Exceed $1 Billion for Families Affected by Burr Oak Cemetery’s Fraud and Deception
Chicago, IL - Prominent trial attorney Willie Gary, his partner CK Hoffler and associate Marwan Porter of the law firm of Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson & Sperando, P.L. and local attorney Jessica Bryant, announced today that they expect total damages to exceed $1 billion for families affected by Burr Oak Cemetery’s fraud and deception.
Gary filed the first of what he expects could be thousands of claims on behalf of families affected by the fraud and deception of Burr Oak Cemetery.
The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois against Perpetua, Inc. and related companies that own Burr Oak Cemetery.
“There is no question that the real culprits in this matter are the corporate owners of Burr Oak Cemetery,” stated CK Hoffler, partner in the Gary Law Firm who runs Gary’s commercial litigation department. “Perpetua owns Burr Oak and knew or should have known about the egregious and unthinkable acts taking place.”
The blame does not need to be shifted to others. The responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of Perpetua, Inc., not on the funeral directors and other innocent victims of Perpetua’s deceit. We applaud the efforts of Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rainbow PUSH for working tirelessly and reaching out to the community to help families deal with this tragedy,” continued Hoffler.
